With A Bow and A Quiver of Arrows (A Day in Gandiva Archery)

You stripped the sheath from your bow, calling for many arrows. Selah You split the earth with rivers.

It was a rainy Sunny afternoon and my officemates and I went to Gandiva Archery for a day of archery. I remembered in UP Diliman seeing those targets out in the field. Think of Hawkeye and Katniss Everdeen in Hunger Games.

I wanted to have that eye of a hawk and get that target.

Welcome to Gandiva Archery!

We were taught how to look at the target (through the arrow sight), how to place the arrow (with the different color facing you and make sure to fasten the tail on the string) and how to release the arrow (with your 3 fingers to release the string). We were briefed in the parts of a bow and an arrow.

And as for you taking aim, your dominant hand is just below your jawbone and when you release, pull the string and let it go. It looked too easy just by saying it.

I took my aim, looked at the arrow sight and released the arrow. How did I fair? Yup I took a shot and it’s not even on the paper (insert canned laughter here). For an hour we tried and tried and the closest I did? Well here’s my target paper.

You can laugh now. If it isn’t out of bounds, it’s in the other archer’s target. Haha! It was fun and before our session was the Gandiva Archery’s Mini Sportsfest. We enjoyed watching individuals in various ages getting their targets every after aim!

By 2008, Gandiva has worked hand in hand with the Department of Education by giving free Armory Clinics in the different regional meets. Pano makita ang mga product nyo on-line? Since manggagaling pa yong bibili ng Palawan, gusto kong malaman kung may mapagpipilian sya.
